Minnesota Street Rod Association

A brief history
The Minnesota Street Rod Association was founded over thirty years ago by a group of Twin Cities rodders. The original 12 members met at a Pizzeria in Minneapolis. They created an association of local car clubs to serve as a forum to get information about the hobby to other clubs and rodders in the area.

One of the first events the new Association hosted was a cruise night. They invited 200 friends to meet at St. Paul's Midway Shopping Center parking lot. After an impromptu car show some of the members took off to cruise to a local theater. They filled the streets with rods and customs as the film "American Graffiti" let out. Just imagine the shock of the patrons leaving the theater to see the film come to life on the streets of St. Paul! After a couple of years, they moved the event to the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. They call this get together Back to the 50's!

MSRA Today
From those humble beginnings, the MSRA has grown to exceed 13,000 members world wide. Back to the 50's now hosts over 11,000 cars and over 100,000 spectators. It is the second largest car show of its kind in the world ... second only to the NSRA Street Rod Nationals.

The MSRA Web page is visited every hour of every day from somewhere in the world.  It has been viewed by over 300,000 visitors from more than fifty countries.

The MSRA's award winning LineChaser newsletter has grown to a 70-page monthly magazine with a circulation of over 10,000.

MSRA® is an all-volunteer association. The Association is governed by a Board of Directors who are also volunteers.  As a non-profit organization all profits are returned to the members in the form of the Web page, LineChaser, subsidized picnics, dances, banquets and campouts. Membership dues have remained unchanged for twenty years.

Back to the 50's® has been featured in Street Rodder and Rod and Custom magazines and has been highlighted on My Classic Car on the TNN cable network.  The event has also been covered by Nitro Magazine, a car magazine in France.  With members in Australia, Canada, Great Britain, New Zealand and the United States, the MSRA is a "world-class" car club.

The Future
MSRA is still about Friends, Food, Fun and Fellowship...but most about having fun with cars!  So lean back and let's go cruisin'!
